Vicente Chamber Orchestra

Last year, I set out to create a new chamber orchestra in Los Angeles. With some generous support from a few friends, and the talent of many volunteer musicians, we created an orchestra with a simple and focused mission: to make "music for music's sake." After many months of effort and a series of rehearsals, we presented our first concert last November to a large and very enthusiastic audience. Our ambitious first program included Schubert's Symphony no. 3 and Beethoven's Violin Concerto featuring world class concert violinist Irina Tseitlin.

This year, my plans are more ambitious. My goal is to make the Vicente Chamber Orchestra one of LA's finest chamber orchestras. Located on the Westside, the Vicente Chamber Orchestra will perform great masterpieces not often performed by local groups. And, we will perform only a few concerts per year, thus focusing our energy on the quality of the performance and not the need to present a subscription series.

While a few people have told me that LA is in no need of yet another musical organization struggling to find an audience, I disagree.

In a city with millions of people, and in these tumultuous times, the more music the better. And, what makes the Vicente Chamber Orchestra special is its high caliber and passionate musicians, many of whom volunteer their time to the orchestra.

We hope you will join us on Saturday, October 28th, 4:00 PM, for our second concert. We are proud to feature Robert Chen, the Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and talented violist Beatrice Chen, in a performance of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante.
